Tradex

Transforming insurer efficiency through self-service and automation

Tradex Insurance is one of the most successful motor trade insurers in the UK, writing over £100 million worth of business per annum. Its website deals with thousands of customers and brokers every day. We have undertaken a major, multi-year re-development of their web platforms delivering self-service to their customers by integrating with multiple back-end systems.

The discovery phase unearthed high expectations for the project from all stakeholders. The business wanted new, full-cycle digital process to replace their legacy website which had limited end user functionality and was not integrated with their back-end systems. This created manual work reconciling policy data and updating policies.

Their policyholders expected to be able to access and update their policy on any device, at any time. This included processing mid-term-adjustments including adding and removing vehicles from their policy. And finally Tradex's brokers expected a simple interface to get quotes and process policies on-cover.

We used rapid-prototyping to avoid the classic pitfalls of IT projects. Rapidly developing interactive prototypes and testing these with the business and real customers and brokers enabled us to get valuable feedback early in the project.

This enabled us to iterate the prototypes and re-test multiple times before the project was passed to our development team. Having a proven prototype signed-off before development minimised change requests and ensured the end result met user requirements.

The website and portals were developed on the latest version of the Microsoft stack (.NET/MVC/SQL Server). We designed and implemented a secure, robust integration architecture between the web application and multiple back-end systems.

Non-transactional pages are built on top of the Sitefinity, a leading enterprise-level .NET Content Management System (CMS).

Tradex.com won Sitefinity CMS Site of the Year.

“The new site and portals have enabled us to improve and achieve our goals to ensure that Motor Trade policies on our system, policyholders, brokers and the MID are updated with accuracy and efficiency. Manpower has been greatly reduced with the automated process and is now only used where appropriate on referrals.”
